水の都で、私にとっては身近な街の一つです。中之島の地盤改良では、松杭が使われていました。保存、再生工事の際、掘り出された松杭は、80年余り土の中に埋まっていたものとは思われないほど、伐採当時の姿を保っていたそうです。建築と自然の共存の手法として可能性を感じます。

It’s a watery city, and I know it well. Pine piles were used to strengthen the ground of Nakanoshima. During conservation and restoration work, the pine piles removed from the ground retained their original appearance from when they were cut. It’s hard to believe they had been buried for over 80 years. This method shows potential for coexisting with nature through architecture.
